Glass Photo Charms

I know.. I know... When I say glass jewelry you may get a little worried but I just love how these are turning out. I decided last week that they were something I needed to figure out how to make so in between my custom shoe orders this week I intend to perfect my craft.. I am giving this one to my Mom for her B-day tomorrow. They are double sided so you can put 2 pictures in.. I make them with lead free solder of course so please know they are safe for you & your loved ones!

Please e-mail me if you are interested. All I need is a picture (or 2) that you can email to me (or give to me in person) - the pictures will be returned to you unharmed. Let me know if you prefer color/black & white/or sepia. I am working on some different sizes but this one shown is a one inch square. They are $20 for the charm which will hang from a ribbon (you can pick the color). If you need a chain just lmk and we can work it out!

Quilts too!!

I have had a few inquiries about my quilts so I just wanted to give you a look at what I have done/can do... My "Grammy & Pa" became avid quilters back in the early 80's & that is where I inherited my love of quilting from. My Grandmother taught me how to quilt when I was in middle school!

I love the way you can take a bunch of fabric, sew it together & have something to treasure forever. I have a bit of a quilt addiction so it is nice to make them for others because if you can possibly imagine having too many, we probably do.. :)

The red & denim quilt is made from bandanas & denim pockets taken from old blue jeans. I have hundreds of pockets I have collected over the past 15 years so there are plenty more where those came from.. lol

The pastel pink quilt is a small version of a large one that was on my daughters bed for many years It was one of my first quilts.

The last quilt is made from my daughters first year baby clothes. It hangs on a quilt rack in her room & is by far my most favorite because each time I look at it I am reminded of a special outfit, a favorite pair of jammies, or a frilly dress that she wore. She is 12 now & it amazes me how fast time has flown by.

Play Balls!!

The great thing about this toy is that when it gets thrown at a highspeed in your face it doesn't hurt.. Around here we get lots of things thrown at us. What can I say.. Liam likes to throw.

At any rate, these balls are simple, entertaining, and fun! I can custom make them to the size and color that works best for your child. The outside is fleece, inner is polyfill. I can add a small bell inside and a small ribbon handle can be added so that the tiniest baby can get a grip on them!

Action Shot & Free Tester Option!!

I just wanted to add these pictures & let you know that my little Liam who is nearly 16 months wears his made by me shoes everywhere. They are the only shoes we even own for him. A few weeks ago we spent the day at a ranch & he wore his little blue leather peace shoes. He was like a wild banshee in the horse stables, dirt, mud, and longhorn areas. Its pretty dirty there.. At any rate, at the end of the day when we took off his little shoes his feet were completely dry & clean. That is our experience. Feel free to share yours!

On that note, I am offering a tester option at this time that allows a layer of waterproof fabric to be added between the leather sole & the interior lining. It should help with fall & winter weather. If you would like to add this to your shoes please let me know when you are placing your custom order. Because it is the testing phase I am offering the additon at no charge! All you need to do is let me know if it works.. or not.. hence the "testing phase".. hehe

Finished Customs

So these shoes are just a little something I whipped up because I LOVE the fabric. They are looking for a home. They measure a little over 4 3/4". The outer is gorgeous rose fabric w/ black leather soles & a strawberry red lining. They are $14 shipped. These shoes are a custom for Circle_of_Life. Light Purple Wool Outer w/ a bright Purple lining & tan leather soles. The peace symbol is a darker varigated purple w/ white stitching.

This pair is for lmarie81 - Dark brown leather w/ tan leather sole & chocolate brown lining. The first picture depicts the actual leather color beautifully!

Something other than Shoes

Here is a little something I whipped up today. I was in the mood for crushed red velvet... The kids thought burning the edges of the fabric for the rose was very exciting!!

Details:

They are made from a 100% Ralph Lauren black wool, ribbed sweater. The interior is lined in black fleece. The white flowers are scattered throughout the shoe. They measure a tiny smidgen over 5".

I will be adding a customs list to this blog so that you can check in & see where you are on the list! I am pretty full right now and I am on hold because I am waiting on new labels to get here. (It should be tomorrow or Thursday).. I am also trying to savor the last 2 weeks of summer vacation before all 3 kids go back - to 3 different schools - just e-mail me if you want on the list or have a question!

About Very Chic Baby

Years ago I was able to find very few shoes for my children that measured up to my standards, they had to be flexible, cute, affordable, and most importantly they needed to stay on! I found it a nearly impossible feat so I made my own. I came up with my pattern which I have tweaked many times over the years. I have been making my kids shoes for a decade now & would love to share the shoe love with others! It is a wonderful feeling to know I can create affordable & comfortable shoes for children and adults alike. I also am proud to say I use recycled materials!

I use recycled materials for the construction of almost all of my shoes. I primarily use wool sweaters, corduroy, and/or rescued leather. I also make fleece (new of course) shoes. Occasionally I make fabric shoes - but almost exclusively from vintage fabrics or clothing. All shoes have leather or suede soles regardless of the size. Leather/Suede soles allow for outdoor use however, I do not recommend using them in wet weather.. The lining is (new) fleece. The shoes are also washable.

I have found that there such a giant difference from child to child for shoes. I know I have ordered shoes by “age” so many times only to receive them & be disappointed because they were either too big or too small. For that reason I will take your child’s actual foot measurement (from longest toe to back of heel) & make the shoes sized to fit with a little wiggle room of course.

At this time I am taking requests for colors such as Girl, Boy, or G/N (Gender Neutral). Feel free to inquire about certain colors. You may request Wool, Leather/Suede, Fleece, or Corduroy outers. Feel free to pm me about embellishments. I will not copy another WAHMS work. Please do not ask.

Prices are as follows:

Add $3-7 for embellishment

Please add $2 for shoes over 6” in length. You can e-mail me for pricing on adult shoes. Pricing does not includ the cost of shipping. Shipping is $2 per pair.

As a side note, I do not accept PP. I do accept Rme, checks, money orders, & concealed cash. The turn around time for the shoes will be less than one week after payment is received unless I am on a quest to find something extra special that you request!
